Bob Griffis Minerals – Thumbnails from Japan

Andradite Rainbow Garnet - Kohse mine, Tenkawa village, Yoshino-gun, Nara Prefecture, Kinki Region, Honshu Island, Japan

Presented are a small group of rare thumbnail specimens from Japan. Included are single crystals of rainbow Andradite garnets from the only Japanese locality, now forbidden to collecting, and one of the few worldwide to produce these crystals. Also presented are a small group of rare Sakura ishi, or cherry-blossom stones, which are highly prized in Japan. These are all from my personal collection.
